How to setup FTP for OpenCart?

You must have an FTP account on your server. If you do not have one, then you need to create one. You can request help from your hosting provider for creating FTP account for you.

Setup FTP settings in OpenCart admin page

Login in your opencart admin page and go to: System > Settings > [Your Store] (Default) : Edit > FTP tab.

FTP settings example:

FTP Host: example.com
FTP Port : 21
FTP Username : testusername@example.com
FTP Password: test123
FTP Root: the relative path from FTP account directory to the directory where your store is installed.

FTP Root examples:
• If your store is installed in “public_html” folder, then you must leave empty FTP Root.
• If your store is installed in “public_html/directory1/directory2/” folder, then fill FTP Root with: directory1/directory2/
• If you use the main FTP account (special FTP account with access to home directory of your hosting), then fill FTP Root with:
public_html/ or public_html/directory1/directory2/

Set Enable FTP to Yes and press “Save” button.
